Overview
The CAS Inhouse Counsel is an extra-occupational university continuing education programme with the aim of providing current and future in-house counsel with an introduction to relevant areas of the working methods of persons in the function of in-house counsel. In particular, this includes areas such as legal strategy, compliance, risk management, corporate governance, contract drafting, litigation and dispute management and other important areas of law. In addition, participants are taught knowledge and skills in the areas of personal and leader effectiveness, project management, people management, etc., which are necessary for successful in-house lawyers. Lecturers
The CAS Inhouse Counsel's pool of lecturers includes recognised experts from academia, the judiciary, law firms, companies and national and international regulatory and supervisory authorities. Their many years of experience and interdisciplinary expertise guarantee a practical transfer of knowledge at the highest level.

Teaching mode
The programme takes place on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings.
Time period
The study programme takes place over 20 half-days on a total of 10 weekends. The programme starts in March and ends in June (excluding examination days). The course days are set taking into account public holidays and the school holidays in the city of Zurich.

Proof of Performance & degree
Students give a group presentation during the course and write a written paper at the end of the course.
Obligatory attendance
In addition, an 80% attendance requirement applies for passing the course.
Degree
The Faculty of Law of the University of Zurich awards the title to successful graduates of the programme: CAS Certificate of Advanced Studies UZH in Inhouse Counsel.
ECTS Credits
The Faculty of Law of the University of Zurich awards 10 ECTS credits to successful graduates of the programme.
Costs
The regular price is CHF 8'500 if you register by 31 January 2026. The early bird price of CHF 8'000 applies if you register by 30 November 2025. The course fee includes the costs for the digital course materials, the examination fees and the graduation ceremony. The costs for any excursions and special literature are not included.
Application
Applications are made directly on the website using the application form.
A university degree and practical experience are required for admission. In exceptional cases, persons with comparable qualifications and specific practical experience may also be admitted ‘sur dossier’. The study committee can also make admission dependent on a successful admissions interview.
