Aim of the course

This programme Flyer_CAS Compliance Management 2025 (PDF, 707 KB) is designed on a part time basis, aiming to provide current and future compliance officers with an introduction to relevant areas of the working methods of persons in the function of a compliance officer.

Participants of the course should obtain knowledge in areas such as business process management, quality management, system engineering, life cycle networks, internal control systems, operational and financial risk management, information technology, as well as project and people management.

The course combines academic teaching and research with practical application and at the same time promotes professional, methodical and social skills, taking into account the international dimension and cross-border compliance requirements. 

The teaching language is English.

Target Group

The programme is aimed at prospective and existing compliance officers, corporate lawyers and economists who wish to improve their professional qualifications. 

Program

The program is divided into two modules. The first module deals with what is meant by compliance, how risks are treated and how they can be mitigated. In addition, it deals with the recognition of compliance violations and, subsequently, with options for an adequate response.

In the second module, case studies are used to prepare for the practical application. In order to secure the highest practical value for the participants, a team of experts from various industries accompanies the course and works alongside the class to develop various solutions. Such, the participants do not only benefit from the many years of the experts experience, but also from the diversity of their professional background (e.g. government, business, university).

Teaching mode

Time period
The study programme will take place over 30 half-days (Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings) on a total of 16 weekends. The course begins on 24 January 2025 and ends on 24 May 2025 (excluding examination days).
The course days are set taking into account public holidays and school holidays in the city of Zurich. Subject to change.

Teaching mode
Classes are held in face-to-face mode. Online or hybrid versions are not planned.
Attendance of 80% is required to pass the course.

Language of instruction
The course is taught in English.

Classes take place at the PHZH, directly at Zurich main station.

Proof of performance and degree

Participants take an oral examination as proof of their performance.

The Faculty of Law of the University of Zurich awards the title to successful graduates of the program:

CAS Certificate of Advanced Studies UZH in Compliance Management

Successful graduates of the program receive 15 ECTS credits.

Costs

CHF 9'800.- The course fee includes the costs for course materials and examination fees. The costs for any excursions and special literature are not included.

*Cancellation is possible within 10 days of receipt of confirmation of admission without incurring any costs, after which the full tuition fees are due. All course fees must be paid within 30 days of the invoice date, but in any case before the start of the course. Tuition fees will not be refunded in the event of later withdrawal.
