The Europa Institute at the University of Zurich (EIZ) is one of the leading competence centers for European law and an important provider of legal training courses in Switzerland. The EIZ offers consulting, training and information services in all areas of European law and Swiss business law.

In addition to seminar activities, the CAS programs are a long-standing service for all those who wish to further their education in a specific field of law.

The courses of study are designed on behalf of the Faculty of Law of the University of Zurich and implemented by the EIZ. The program is subject to the quality requirements of the University of Zurich.

Study Commission

Each CAS program has its own study commission. The commissions are responsible for the strategic management and content of the continuing education program. Among the most important tasks are:

  1. Strategic orientation and further development of the program;
  2. Decisions on the teaching program, the allocation of ECTS credits and the regulations governing the credits to be achieved;
  3. Regulation of quality assurance, in particular by establishing admission principles and determining the evaluation criteria.

Faculty of Law

The Faculty of Law of the University of Zurich is the governing body of the CAS programmes and at the same time supervises them.

Commission

On behalf of the Faculty of Law, a study commission supervises the CAS programmes. Its members are currently as follows (in alphabetical order):

EIZ Publishing

EIZ Publishing is an open access specialist publisher supported by the Europa Institut at the University of Zurich (EIZ). The aim of the publishing house is to disseminate specialised literature as widely as possible in a variety of contemporary formats. Open Access stands for free and unrestricted access to the digital editions of our publications.Thanks to various digital formats, our eBooks can be read on all eReaders, smartphones and desktop computers.The publications can also be found worldwide in internet search engines using a DOI number.Our publications are also available in printed form in regular bookshops at low cost via print on demand.

EIZ Publishing was founded in 2019. The specialist open access publishing house arose from the need to make the best possible use of digital media for extensive, cross-border dissemination, using contemporary formats and making content available free of charge in line with the national open access strategy. In addition to our own publication series, we also offer our publishing services to third parties for their own series of publications.As one of the leading institutions for questions of European law and for continuing legal education in Switzerland, we guarantee competent support for publications.Our range of services includes - in addition to the production and provision of eBooks and print on demand - the development of the layout and extensive marketing (advertising dispatch via newsletter, social media postings, review requests to relevant journals, etc.).We publish under Creative Commons licences. This means that authors do not have to transfer their copyright to us in full and can also utilise their publications elsewhere.
